How to Roast a Pepper
Have you ever wondered how to roast your own peppers? It might literally knock your socks off when you see just how simple it is.
What you need:
Peppers - any style, the same process works for them all.
Baking Sheet
Tin Foil
Paper Bag
What to do:
Preheat the oven to low broil.
Line the baking sheet with tin foil.
Wash the peppers and put them directly on the foil.
Place the baking sheet about 5 inches below the broiler.
Cook, turning occasionally, until blackened on all sides.
When you remove the peppers from the oven place them in a paper bag and fold the top over.
Let them sit for at least 15-20 minutes.
Extract the peppers from the paper bag and remove the skins, they should practically fall off in your hands. Discard the stem and seeds along with the skin.
Sometimes the seeds get messy, you can run the pepper under cool water to remove the last of them if necessary. I try not to do this if possible in order to maintain the juices of the pepper.
It's really that easy! If you're not using them right away store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Enjoy!
